With a prestigious history dating back to shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, Babamukashi is the third highest grade matcha from Kanbayashi Shunsho. The name, meaning "Grandmother's old tale," was earned when the shogun so loved the tea he rewarded the maker's family with an exclusive garden. The dessert-like fragrance promises a uniquely creamy and sweet flavor free of bitterness. It caresses the palate with notes of dried dates, tender greens, and vanilla, finishing with a marvelous aftertaste like pleasant custard cream. Compared to 'Koicha Hijirimukashi', it offers a noticeably fuller and sweeter taste.
