Endorsed by the esteemed Urasenke Grand Tea Master Zabosai Sosho, Jingai-no-Mukashi is a ceremonial matcha crafted specifically for the rich and meditative experience of koicha (thick tea). This matcha offers a unique and profound character, diverging from intensely fragrant profiles to present a serene depth. Tasting notes from our customers describe a wonderfully smooth, creamy, and sweet profile, built upon a distinctly earthy and vegetal base. Its gentle, non-astringent nature makes for a deeply satisfying bowl that is both full-bodied and uniquely mellow, perfect for a focused and contemplative tea session.

Tried as usucha, koicha and latte. Preferred usucha and latte. Very strong grassy, vegetal, umami flavor. I personally liked it a lot. With milk it is creamy and nutty and lose some of its strong vegetal but still good. Would repurchase

Excellent as Koicha, Fantastic as a Latte!
When prepared traditionally as koicha, this matcha makes a powerful impression. It immediately hits you with its fresh, grassy and vegetal notes, which are complemented by a distinct marine, seaweed-like quality. It foamed up beautifully as well; It provides a very pleasing boost, making it an ideal mid-day energizer. With milk, it transforms into something else entirely. The creaminess of the milk beautifully rounds out the matcha's intensity, creating a perfectly balanced flavor. Adding just a touch of maple syrup took it to the next level. I highly recommend trying it, this one is a winner.
